Capturing the Joy of Growing Up Together
There is something so special about photographing siblings.
The way they make each other laugh. The little looks they share. The games only they understand. The way they can be best friends one moment and winding each other up the next.
These Childhood Storytelling Sessions aren't just about capturing beautiful photographs of children. They're about preserving relationships, personalities, and all those little moments that make up this season of life.
This lovely session with three siblings was full of exactly that.
Adventure, Play and Plenty of Laughter
We spent the morning exploring outdoors, playing games and making the most of a beautiful morning.
As with any group of siblings, each child approached the session in their own way. Some were keen to throw themselves into every game and adventure, while others preferred to join in a little more quietly.
And that's absolutely fine.
One of the things I love most about these sessions is creating space for children to be themselves. Through a mixture of games, prompts, exploration and a little gentle guidance, we create photographs that feel natural whilst still capturing all those beautiful moments parents love.
There was plenty of running, lots of laughter, and more than a few moments that had us all smiling.
The Bond Between Brothers and Sisters
While every child is wonderfully unique, one of my favourite things to photograph is the connection between siblings.
The way they look out for one another.
The inside jokes.
The shared adventures.
The confidence that comes from having your brother or sister by your side.
Some of my favourite images from this session weren't planned at all. They happened in the spaces between the games. A quick glance. A shared laugh. A moment of connection that lasted only seconds but tells such a beautiful story.
Those are often the moments parents treasure most.
Why Sibling Photographs Matter
Childhood changes so quickly.
The games they play together today will eventually be replaced by new interests, new friendships and new adventures.
Photographs have a wonderful way of freezing these moments in time.
The stage where they still hold hands.
The stage where they chase each other through fields.
The stage where they spend an evening laughing together without a care in the world.
Those moments may feel ordinary now, but one day they'll be the memories you treasure most.

FAQ
Where do childhood photography sessions take place in Lincolnshire?
Sessions take place outdoors across Lincolnshire, including woodland, wildflower meadows, parks, and meaningful locations in areas such as Grimsby, Barton-Upon-Humber, Lincoln, Cleethorpes, and the surrounding countryside.
How long does a childhood photography session last?
Childhood photoshoots usually last around 45 minutes, giving children plenty of time to relax, explore, and be themselves without pressure.
What age are childhood photography sessions suitable for?
These childhood storytelling sessions are designed for children from around 6 months (once babies can sit confidently) up to approximately 8 years old. They’re perfect for capturing this beautiful stage of early childhood, from curious babies and toddlers through to playful, expressive young children, all in a relaxed outdoor setting.
What if my child doesn’t want to pose?
If your child doesn’t want to pose, that’s absolutely fine, there’s no pressure at all during the session. I take time to help them feel relaxed and comfortable first, often using bubbles, toys, and gentle interaction so they can settle in naturally.
As they warm up, I use a mix of playful prompts and light direction to create both natural moments and more gently posed portraits, including simple setups where they feel happy and at ease. The goal is always to capture their personality in a way that feels relaxed, enjoyable, and true to who they are.
