Every now and then, a family session comes along that makes me completely fall in love with my job all over again.
This was one of those sessions.
On a beautiful summer evening, I met this lovely family at one of my favourite outdoor locations in Lincolnshire for a golden hour family photography session. Their little girl was just three months old, and they brought along another very important member of the family too, their beautiful Saint Bernard.
From the moment we started, it was one of those sessions that simply felt easy.
There were cuddles, giggles, little walks through the countryside, sleepy moments, feeding breaks and so many tiny interactions between them that I knew would become photographs they would treasure for years to come.
And honestly?
I absolutely loved every minute of it.
A Relaxed Family Photography Session in Lincolnshire
One of the things I love most about photographing families with young babies is that there is no need to rush.
This family session lasted around two hours, which gave us plenty of time to simply enjoy the evening together without watching the clock.
Their little girl could feed whenever she needed to.
She could have cuddles.
She could have a little rest.
And when she eventually drifted off to sleep, we simply embraced it and captured some beautiful sleepy portraits too.
This is exactly why I love offering longer, relaxed family photography sessions.
Babies don't work to a schedule, and your family photos shouldn't have to either.
Instead of trying to fit everything into a short window, we had time to follow her lead and capture all the different parts of their evening together.
Capturing Every Part of Their Family
One of my favourite things about family photography is that your gallery shouldn't just be made up of everyone looking at the camera.
Of course, we captured those beautiful photographs of the whole family together.
But we also photographed the little pieces that make their family theirs.
Mum and baby.
Dad and baby.
Their little girl on her own.
The three of them together.
And, of course, plenty of photographs with their enormous, gorgeous Saint Bernard joining in too.
There were cuddles and kisses, little smiles, tiny hands being held and those beautiful moments where parents simply looked down at their baby completely in love.
These combinations are so important to me because, years from now, you'll want to remember more than what everyone looked like.
You'll want to remember how small your baby was in your arms.
How they fitted perfectly against your chest.
The way they held your finger.
And just how completely obsessed you were with them.
Golden Hour Family Photography in the Lincolnshire Countryside
The evening light was absolutely beautiful.
As the sun began to lower, everything was bathed in that soft, warm golden glow that makes outdoor family photography so special.
The countryside became the backdrop, rather than a studio set.
We wandered, explored and let the evening unfold naturally around us.
This is one of the reasons I love photographing families outdoors across Lincolnshire.
Whether we're surrounded by wildflowers, woodland, long grasses or rolling countryside, nature gives us somewhere beautiful to simply be together.
And because we're moving through the landscape rather than standing in one fixed spot, the photographs feel much more natural.
They're full of movement, connection and little in-between moments.

FAQ
What if my children don't sit still?
You don't need perfectly posed children for beautiful family photographs. My outdoor family photography sessions are relaxed and child-led, giving little ones the freedom to explore, play, cuddle, laugh and simply be themselves. Some of my favourite photographs come from the in-between moments when children forget the camera is even there.
We feel awkward in front of the camera, will you guide us?
Absolutely. Most families tell me this before their family photography session. My approach to family photography is relaxed, natural, and focused on genuine connection rather than stiff poses. Throughout your outdoor family photoshoot, I'll gently guide you with simple prompts and activities so you never have to worry about what to do. The result is natural family photographs that feel authentic, joyful, and true to your family.
What should we wear for our outdoor family photography session?
Once your family photography session is booked, I'll send over a styling guide to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully and feel true to your family. For outdoor family photography, I always recommend comfortable clothing in complementary tones that allows everyone to move, play, and relax naturally. The goal is to create timeless family photographs that feel authentic to you and look beautiful displayed in your home for years to come.
Where do your family photography sessions take place in Lincolnshire?

My outdoor family photography sessions are designed to be relaxed and enjoyable for children and parents alike, creating natural family photographs full of genuine connection, personality and emotion.
What happens after our family photography session?
After your family photography session, I carefully hand-edit each image to ensure your gallery reflects the warmth, connection, and personality of your family. Once your family photographs are ready, I'll invite you to view your gallery and choose your included digital images. You'll also have the opportunity to explore beautiful wall art, albums, and additional photographs if you'd like to preserve even more of your family's story.
What if the weather is bad?
If the weather isn’t suitable for your family photography session, we’ll simply reschedule to another date. I always want your outdoor family photography session to take place in the best possible light and conditions, so your family photographs feel natural, warm, and full of atmosphere that reflects your story beautifully.
